NEWPORT, R.I. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team played to a 2-2 draw in the season opener at Salve Regina University on Saturday afternoon.

The Seahawks opened the scoring in the first period with a power play goal. Dan McDougall tied the game at one 33 seconds into the second period. Save Regina would take back the lead at the 7:49 mark and would hold the 2-1 lead after two periods.

With 5:02 left in the third period, Liam Board scored his first collegiate goal to knot the score at two. Steve Low drew the assist. Neither team could score in the extra time and the teams came away with the tie.

Ben Curley started in net and made 23 saves in the 65 minutes.

Neumann (0-0-1) comes home for four games to begin ECAC West action. The Knights will host Elmira  on Friday beginning at 7:00 PM.
