ASTON, Pa. - The Neumann University men's ice hockey team picked up an exciting 4-3 overtime victory against Manhattanville College on Saturday evening in ECAC West action.
Ryan Luiten lit the lamp twice in the win. Steve Low had a goal and an assist. Jon Low handed out two assists. Ben Curley made 20 saves in net.
Manhattanville scored the only goal of the first period, coming at the 7:34 mark on the man-advantage. The Valiants went up 2-0 midway through the second period.
Luiten cut the lead to 2-1 as he scored off assists from the Low brothers at the 14:16 mark of the second period.
Luiten knotted the game at two with his second goal 6:29 into the third period. J. Low and Matt Zendejas tallied the assists. With time winding down, S. Low found the back of the set for a 3-2 Knights lead on the unassisted goal. The Valiants were not going to let go that easily and scored a minute to tie the game up at three.
With the flurry of goals at the end of regulation, neither team held an advantage and the game went into overtime. Mike Davis found the back of the net off assists from Mikko Virtanen and Doug Rose to give the Knights the 4-3 overtime conference win.
Neumann (3-1-1, 3-1 ECAC West) hits the road next weekend for a game at Utica on Friday and Nazareth on Saturday.
