UTICA, N.Y. – The Neumann University won by a 4-1 decision at Utica College on Friday evening in ECAC West action.
Jon Low and Shayne Morrissey each lit the lamp twice for the Knights. Ryan Luiten and Shane Topf handed out two assists each. Ben Curley was outstanding in net, making 42 saves en route to his fourth win of the season.
J. Low opened the scoring 4:38 into the game. Luiten and Topf drew the helpers on the only goal of the first period.
Morrissey found the back of the net five minutes into the second period on the power play. Luiten and Nick Perruccio tallied the assists. J. Low scored his second goal a minute and a half later for a 3-0 Neumann lead. Steve Low and Topf had the assists. The Pioneers would score their lone goal of the game at the 12:22 mark of the second on the man-advantage. After 40 minutes of play, Neumann held a 3-1 game.
Morrissey capped the scoring midway through the third period off a pass from Liam Board.
Each team notched on power play tally. Utica outshot Neumann 43-21, but the Knights were ahead where it counted, coming away with the 4-1 win.
Neumann (4-1-1, 4-1 ECAC West) travels to Nazareth tomorrow to wrap up conference action for the fall semester. The puck is slated to drop at 4:00 PM.
