GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team fell to Gwynedd Mercy University 7-1 in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) semifinal on Wednesday evening.

The Griffins jumped on the board early and held the pace of the game for the first half. At the break, Gwynedd Mercy held a 5-0 lead and Neumann shot less.

The Knights opened the scoring in the second half as Jessica Harrell put the ball in the cage as the Griffins keeper gave up a rebound off the previous shot. Gwynedd Mercy responded quickly and netter two goals and squashed any hope of a Neumann come-back.

Becca Wallace started the game and made one save. Summer Sklivas made four saves in net in relief. Becky Guinto had a defensive save.

Gwynedd Mercy moves on and will face Cabrini in the CSAC Championship game. Cabrini defeated Immaculata 3-0 in the semifinals.

Neumann is now 11-9 and will wait for the ECAC announcement to see if its season will continue.
