Field Hockey Heads to GMU in Semifinal Action

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's field hockey team heads to Gwynedd Mercy University on Wednesday evening for a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) semifinals match-up.

The Knights are the No. 3 seed in the postseason, after going 5-2 in conference action. The Griffins went 6-1 in CSAC play and are the No. 2 seed. The other semifinal game will feature No. 1 seed Cabrini College hosting No. 4 seed Immaculata University.

Neumann finished the regular season 11-8 overall. Lindsey Spatola led the Knights with 19 goals and four assists for 42 points. Jordan Hopkins, Jessica Harrell and Marisa Antuzzi each found the back of the net eight times.

Summer Sklivas started 11 games in net. In combined 1,388 minutes, the three goalies had a combined goals-against-average of 1.71 and notched a combined five shutouts. They were helped in the backfield by Katie Bauer, Jillian DeFina, Brittany Naimoli, Ashley Parker and Kay Roy.

These two teams faced off last Saturday. The Griffins came away with a 4-3 win in OT. Jessica Harrell and Lindsey Spatola each scored a goal in the second half to help the Knights come back from a two goal deficit in order to force overtime.

The winners of the semifinal games will advance to the CSAC Championship on Saturday. The highest remaining seed will host the title game.
