Box Score ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University volleyball team defeated Marywood University 3-1 on Thursday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) semifinal action. Neumann won the first set 25-18. The Pacers then took the second set 25-50. The Knights won sets three and four 25-23 and 25-20, to take the match.
With the win, Neumann (22-11) will travel to Cabrini for the CSAC Championship match on Saturday.
Anna Waltz led the Knights with 14 kills. Kelsey D'Imperio added 13. Kat Wolf handed out 38 assists. Julia Malseed notched 22 digs while Waltz had 20 and Wolf added 11.
With the match tied at one, the third and fourth sets were close, as each team battled for the chance to advance to the CSAC Championship match
With the Knights holding a 15-10 advantage in set three, the Pacers went on to score six straight points to take a 16-15 lead. The teams would then trade points down the stretch and ended up tied at 23. Two kills by Waltz gave Neumann the two points needed to take the set.
The fourth set was back and forth as well, but the Knights were able to get three straight points at the end to win 25-20, on a kill by CSAC Player of the Year D'Imperio.
