No. 1 Plattsburgh Too Much for Knights

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team fell 5-1 to No. 1 Plattsburgh State on Sunday afternoon in ECAC West action.

Four out of the six goals in the game came on the power play as the teams went a combined 4-for-3 on the power play.

Plattsburgh scored its first goal midway through the first period. The Cardinals went up 2-0 with an early goal in the second period. Plattsburgh then netted two goals in a minute and a half midway through the second to take a 4-0 lead after two periods.

Shanelle Doucette spoiled the shutout bid on the power play at the 6:04 mark. Lauren Cusack and Bek Lucas assisted on the goal. The Cardinals answered 32 seconds later with their fifth goal and the game ended with the 5-1 score.

Justina Mayr made 32 saves in net as she was busy once again.

Neumann (0-4, 0-2 ECAC West) will travel to Buffalo State next weekend in search for its first win in a pair of conference games. Action gets underway at 7:00 PM on Friday and 3:00 PM on Saturday.
