Men's Hockey Doubles Up Statesmen

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team defeated Hobart College 4-2 on Friday evening in ECAC West action, breaking a seven game winless streak.

Jory Mullin netted two goals, including the game-winner. Shayne Morrissey handed out two assists. Ben Curley made 37 saves in net.

After a scoreless first period, Nick Perruccio opened the scoring 1:57 into the second period. Matt Zendejas and D'Lane Sather tallied the assists.

Hobart tied the game with a power play goal at the 16:18 mark of the second. The Knights responded 16 seconds later as Mullin scored his first goal of the game. Morrissey and Matt Mazzarolo had the assists.

Neumann continued to hold the 2-1 lead as the third period clock ticked away. Hobart pulled its goalie in an attempt to tie the game, but Mullin went down and scored an empty net goal for a 3-1 lead. Morrissey and Casey Rogers handed out the assists. Ryan Luiten seemed to ice the W with an unassisted empty net goal, this time shorthanded, with 55 seconds left in regulation.

The Statesmen were able to score another power play goal after a failed clear by the Knights with 10 seconds left on the clock, but it wasn't enough and the Knights came away with the 4-2 win.

Neumann (8-10-4, 3-7-2 ECAC West) and Hobart (11-7-4, 5-4-3 ECAC West) will meet again tomorrow evening beginning at 7:00 PM. The Knights seniors will be recognized before the game.
