ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team celebrated senior day with a convincing 8-1 win over Hobart College on Saturday evening in ECAC West action.
Before the game, the Knights recognized their four seniors: Braely Torris, D'Lane Sather, Jeff Bienvenue and Mike Cauley.
Dan McDougall had a goal and two assists to lead the Knights. Shayne Morrissey netted two goals. Collin O'Neil and Jory Mullin each had a goal and an assist. Sather added two helpers. Torris made 38 saves in net.
Just like the night before, the teams played to a scoreless first period. Jon Low scored the first goal of the game as the teams played 4-on-4 midway through the second period. Ryan Luiten and McDougall tallied the assists.
Neumann was on a power play as time was winding down in the second. Sather took a shot, which was kicked aside by the Statesmen. Mullin then threw the puck across the net and Chris Bournazos got his stick on the puck and put it in the back of the net for a 2-0 game. Mullin and Sather drew the assists.
In the third period, the Knights then exploded for six goals. To begin a quick flurry of goals, Anthony Pino scored 5:39 into the period, off assists from O'Neil and Sather. Just 33 seconds later, McDougall scored an unassisted goal. Again, 33 seconds later, Morrissey found the back of the net for a 5-0 score. Casey Rogers and Nick Perruccio had the helpers.
While the Knights were killing off a penalty, Morrissey intercepted a pass and went in on net for a shorthanded-breakaway goal and a 6-0 Neumann lead. The Statesmen spoiled the shutout bid with a goal at the 13:13 mark.
Mullin responded less than a minute later with a goal, off an assist from Cauley. O'Neil capped the crazy third period, scoring a power play goal with 1:30 left in regulation. McDougall and Matt Mazzarolo notched the assists.
