Quick Start, but Knights Can't Get Past Golden Flyers

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team started quickly on the first foot, but ended up falling 4-3 to Nazareth College on Friday evening in ECAC West action.

Shayne Morrissey put the Knights on the board quickly, finding the back of the net just 36 seconds into the game. Collin O'Neil and Chris Bournazos tallied the assists. Mike Cauley gave Neumann a 2-0 lead with 3:10 left in the first period. Nick Perruccio and Matt Zendejas handed out the assists.

The Golden Flyers netted two goals in a minute span in the second period to knot the game heading into the final period.


Nazareth took a 4-2 lead midway through the third period. Jon Low converted on a power play to bring Neumann to within one with 4:27 left in regulation. Dan McDougall notched the assist. The Knights pulled goalie Braely Torris for the final 1:10, but could not net the tying goal. Torris finished with 31 saves.

Neumann (9-11-4, 4-8-2 ECAC West) and Nazareth (8-15-1, 4-9-1 ECAC West) will meet again tomorrow afternoon to wrap up the regular season. The puck is slated to drop at 4:00 PM.
