Strong Start Not Enough as Knights Fall to Cougars

DALLAS, Pa. – The Neumann University men's lacrosse team fell late to Misericordia University on Wednesday afternoon.

Ryan Eber led the Knights with three goals and an assist. Patrick Rose had a goal and two assists. Kevin Fonio and Chris Scott each notched a goal and an assist. Alex Becker made 18 saves in net.

Misericordia opened the scoring for an early 1-0 lead. Neumann then scored two goals in the first quarter and the only two goals in the second quarter for a 4-1 lead at halftime.

The tides start to change in the second half and the Cougars scored four of the five goals in the third quarter for a 5-5 game heading into the final 15 minutes.


Misericordia scored three goals in 1:21 including two in five seconds, to take an 8-6 Knights lead and turn it into a 9-8 Cougar lead. Misericordia added another goal with 2:21 left in regulation for a 10-8 score.

Eber scored his third goal of the game with 1:43 left on the clock to pull to within one. The Cougars were called for a penalty with six seconds remaining, but the Knights could not get the tying goal with the man advantage.

Neumann (1-4) travels to Richard Stockton next Wednesday for non-conference action. Action gets underway at 7:00 PM.
