ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's lacrosse team dropped its first Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) game to Gwynedd Mercy University on a rain driven Saturday afternoon.
Ryan Eber led the Knights with five goals. Patrick Rose handed out five assists. Chris Scott netted two goals. Alex Becker made 17 saves in net.
The Griffins scored four quick goals in the first five minutes of the game. Eber put the Knights on the board with two goals in the first, but Gwynedd Mercy held a 6-2 lead after the first 15 minutes.
Gwynedd Mercy netted three goals in the second quarter before Neumann was able to find the net. Eber scored the final goal of the first half for a 9-3 score at the break.
Nine goals were scored in a crazy third quarter. Eber netted two for the Knights as Rob Williamson scored a man down goal for a 15-6 game heading in to the final 15 minutes.
Scott scored both of his goals in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough as the Griffins took home the 16-8 win.
Neumann (2-7, 0-1 CSAC) travels to Marywood for more conference action on Wednesday evening. The first face-off is slated for 4:00 PM.
