Late Comeback Attempt Not Enough, Field Hockey Falls to Stevenson

YORK, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team dropped a 5-3 decision to Stevenson University in the York College Field Hockey Tournament on Friday afternoon in the opening game of the season.

Stevenson jumped on the board first, scoring the first three goals of the game. Lindsey Spatola opened the scoring for Neumann in the 25th minute. The Mustangs added another goal before halftime and held a 4-1 advantage.

Jordan Hopkins netted a goal in the 43rd minute and Alexis Damask in the 49th minute to pull the Knights within one, 4-3. Damask's goal was her first collegiate goal. The Mustangs notched an insurance goal in the 55th minute to come away with the 5-3 win.

Becca Wallace started the game in goal and made three saves in net. Summer Sklivas made 10 saves in relief in the cage.

Neumann (0-1) will continue in the York College Tournament tomorrow afternoon against host York (Pa.). The game is slated to get underway at 1:00 PM.
