ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University volleyball team avenged their two losses from Friday's Knights Invitational matches, and turn in two wins against non-conference rivals, University of Scranton and Haverford College. Both matches were 3-1 wins.
Kelsey D'Imperio was named to the All-Tournament team for her outstanding play throughout the weekend.
In the first game, the Knights found themselves down in the first set with a 25-23 score. Any problems from that point on was bridge under the water, as the Knights strung three consecutive sets (25-23, 25-19, 25-18) to take the match.
D'Imperio led the Knights with 10 kills. Sarah Sanderson and Anna Waltz each handed in nine kills. Kat Wolf dished out 27 assists. Julia Malseed led five Knights in double-digit kills with 15. Waltz notched 14, Danielle Kwapisz tallied 13, Wolf 12 and Elaina Shooster 10.
In the second game, the Knights used their momentum to take the first set (25-22). Haverford was in no mood for a sweep and took the second set (25-18) to knot the match at one set a piece. Neumann put their foot on the accelerator in the third set (25-15) to take a 2-1 lead and made the fourth game interesting with a 25-23 nail biting win.
D'Imperio had an impressive 17 kills and a .382 kills percentage while adding four cblock solos. Faith Cook notched 12 kills. Wolf handed out 38 kills. Malseed anchored the defense with 25 digs.
The Knights (6-2) will host Elizabethtown College on Wednesday at 7:00 PM.
