ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University volleyball team improved to 2-0 in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play with a 3-0 win over Marywood University on Saturday afternoon. Set scores were 25-16, 25-10, 26-24.
The win was a complete team effort as 16 Knights saw time on the court. Sarah Sanderson led the Knights with 12 kills. Kat Wolf handed out 33 assists. Julia Malseed anchored the defense with 14 digs.
In the first set, Malseed served the Knights from a 6-3 lead to a 10-3 advantage. Waltz sealed the first set with a kill, 25-16.
In the second set, Neumann hit .433 as a team. Danielle Kwapisz served the final seven points as the Knights cruised to a 25-10 win.
The final set was not as easy to win to seal the match. Marywood jumped out to an early 5-1 lead. Effective serving by Malseed and Nikki Collevechio brought Neumann back to a 7-7 score. The teams battled back and forth until they were tied at 24. The Knights capitalized on a miscue by the Pacers for the 25th point. Amanda McAleer then iced the win with a kill and the 26-24 win.
