Box Score ASTON, Pa. - The Neumann University men's ice hockey team fell to SUNY-Geneseo 4-1 on Thursday evening in the front end of a home-and-home Thursday evening.
The teams played to a scoreless first period. Neumann outshot Geneseo 20-10. Neumann ended the game with a slight edge in shots, 39-36.
Geneseo scored the only goal in the second period on a 5-on-3 power play.
Mike Davis tied the game at one 5:55 into the third period. Davis buried a rebound off a shot by Ryan Luiten for a 1-1 game.
However, Geneseo was able to score three late goals to come away with the win. Geneseo scored the eventual game-winner at the 15:17 mark as they snapped a wrist shot past Knights goalie Ben Curley. Geneseo added its third goal just over a minute later. With Curley pulled, Geneseo sealed the win with an empty net goal with 22 seconds left on the clock.
Curley made 32 saves in net. Neumann (8-5-2) and Geneseo (7-6-2) will face-off again on Saturday evening, this time in New York. Fame time is 7:00 PM.
