Box Score ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team fell to No. 2 Elmira College 8-2 on Friday evening in ECAC West action.
The first half of the game was back and forth play. The Soaring Eagles scored the first goal 7:41 of the first. The Knights answered just over a minute later when Shanelle Doucette put the puck in the back of the net. Elmira netted a goal in the 13th minute and took the 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
Casey Kilduff tied the score at two 6:13 into the second period. Elmira took back the lead at the 13:47 mark. As the second period started to wind down, the Soaring Eagles took complete control of the game as they scored three goals in a 1:21 span at the end of the period to jump to a 6-2 lead.
Elmira added two more goals in the third period for the 8-2 final. Neumann killed off five penalty kills, including a two-minute 5-on-3 in the third period.
Justina Mayr made 42 saves in net as Elmira outshot Neumann 50-13.
Neumann (3-11-1, 1-8 ECAC West) and Elmira (11-1-1, 7-0 ECAC West) face-off again tomorrow afternoon beginning at 4:00 PM.
