Men's Basketball Stumbles at Scarlet Raptors

CAMDEN, N.J. – The Neumann University men's basketball team fell at Rutgers University – Camden 71-64 on Saturday afternoon in its first contest of 2015.

Andrew Moye scored 21 points and pulled down nine rebounds in his Knights debut. Kevin Green notched 14 points and James Butler added 10 points and eight boards. DeShawn Lowman had six steals.

In a tight first half, Neumann took an early 9-2 lead. Rutgers Camden got to within three, 11-8, before the Knights went on a 7-2 run for an 18-10 advantage. The Scarlet Raptors answered with a 10-2 run to knot the game at 20 with 3:27 remaining in the first half. Both teams went on to score five points each to remain tied at 25. Rutgers Camden connected on two free throws with seven seconds left in the first to take a 27-25 lead into the break.

The two teams traded the lead early in the second half, with Neumann taking its biggest advantage of the second half at 36-32 before Rutgers Camden scored eight straight points to take the lead for good. The Scarlet Raptors would take their largest lead, 60-46, with 4:10 left in regulation. The Knights would back to within six, 60-54, on a three-pointer by Green, but would not be able to get any closer.

Neumann (5-5) continues its five-game road trip on Wednesday at Centenary College. The conference game gets underway at 7:000 PM.
