ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team defeated Cairn University 87-21 on Wednesday evening as it got back into Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.

Lauren Legler led five Knights in double-digits with 14 points. JoHanna Metzger netted 13 points and 10 rebounds for her third straight double-double. Alex Fernandez notched 11 points while Emily Lyons added 10. Carly Kovin also had a double-double with 10 points and 11 boards. Ericka Smith-Sowell pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds and added three blocks. Ten Knights put points on the board in the team win.

Neumann held the pace-of the game from the beginning, scoring the first nine points, and never looked back. The Knights went 6-for-6 from the line in the first 20 minutes and took a 49-12 lead into halftime.

The second half was much like the first. Neumann shot 53-percent from the field in the second half and came away with the 87-21 win. The Knights out rebounded the Highlanders 66-35.

Neumann (5-7, 2-1 CSAC) heads to Cedar Crest on Saturday for more conference action beginning at 1:00 PM.
