ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Neumann University picked up its second straight overtime win in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play, 6-5, at Cedar Crest on Saturday afternoon.
Alexa DeRose found the back of the net three times for the Knights.
Jamie King had two goals and two assists.
Lindsey Padilla added a goal and an assist.
Kristen Montgomery made three saves in net.
DeRose found the back of the net in the 105
th minute, off a pass from King, to give the Knights the 6-5 double overtime victory.
The Falcons took an early lead in the 13
th minute. King scored her first goal in the 31
st minute to tie the game. Cedar Crest scored two goals in the 37
th minute to take a 3-1 lead. King netted her second goal, off an assist from Padilla, in the 41
st minute for a 3-2 game heading into halftime.
Cedar Crest struck early in the second half to take a 4-2 lead. Padilla cut the lead back to one in the 57
th minute. DeRose scored her first goal of the game four minutes later to tie the game at four off a corner kick. DeRose gave Neumann its first lead in the 80
th minute. Four minutes later, Cedar Crest tied the game at five and the teams went into overtime.
The Knights outshot the Falcons 26-13 and 4-2 in the extra time.
Neumann (3-12, 3-7 CSAC) will host Goucher in the final home game of the season on Tuesday afternoon beginning at 4:00 PM.
