WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Neumann University women's basketball team fell to Catholic University 71-48 on Tuesday afternoon in the first day of the Jamie Lynn Roberts - Fairfield Inn DC Holiday Classic.
JoHanna Metzger and
Lauren Legler each netted 11 points in the game. Metzger also pulled down 13 rebounds for a double-double.
The teams were tied at four after the first five minutes of the first quarter. Catholic then finished the quarter on a 10-0 run for a 14-4 lead.
Emily Lyons scored the first basket of the second quarter, a three-pointer, to break the Cardinal's run. However, Catholic took a 32-17 lead into the half.
The Cardinal's held a double-digit lead over the Knights throughout the second half to come away with the 71-48 win.
Neumann (3-7) will face King's College (Pa.) in day two of the Jamie Lynn Roberts - Fairfield Inn DC Holiday Classic tomorrow afternoon. Tip-off is at 1:00 PM.
