Knights Defeat Defenders on Senior Night

ASTON, Pa. - The Neumann University men's basketball team defeated Baptist Bible College in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action Wednesday evening by a score of 91-65.

Before the game tonight, the Knights honored their lone senior on the squad, Captain Benny Birch. The senior totaled six points, an assist and a rebound.

The Knights had four players score in double digits. Kevin Green led the Knights with 23 points as he hit five three-pointers. DeShawn Lowman netted 22 points, going 7-for-9 from the free throw line. James Butler recorded 17 points while also tallying eight rebounds. Denzel Yard added 12 points.

The first half started off with Neumann opening with a 9-2 lead. Lowman and Butler went back and forth, each scoring multiple baskets over the next four minutes to increase the lead to 11, 19-8. Baptist Bible chipped its way back into the game and got to within one, 28-27, with six minutes left in the first half. The teams then traded six three-pointers for a 37-33 score. Two baskets by Green broke the shots from beyond the arc and put the Knights back up by eight, 43-35. Green would hit one of his five three's as the buzzer sounded and Neumann took a 49-36 lead into halftime.

Baptist Bible would get as close as nine, 49-40, by scoring the first two baskets in the second half. However, the Knights would build their lead to 20, 67-47, with 12:56 remaining and never look back.

Neumann (13-9, 10-5 CSAC) remains home to host Marywood University Saturday afternoon in CSAC action getting underway at 3:00 PM.
