Men's Hockey Clinches No. 2 Seed with 5-2 Win

RYE, N.Y. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team wrapped up the regular season with a 5-2 win at Manhattanville College on Friday evening in ECAC West action.

Chris Bournazos had a goal and an assist in the win. Mike Davis handed out two assists. Ben Curley made 31 saves in net.

Manhattanville opened the scoring 5:37 into the first period with a power play goal. Liam Board was able to pull the Knights even at one on an unassisted goal with 3:13 left in the first and the teams went into the first intermission tied.

The Knights exploded for four goals in the second period, two coming on the man advantage. Shayne Morrissey broke the tie 6:33 into the second on the power play. Davis and Bournazos tallied the assists. Bournazos then scored the eventual game-winner at the 14:40 mark. Nick Perruccio handed out the helper.

Jory Mullin put Neumann up 4-1 with another power play goal with 2:30 left in the second. Davis and Dan McDougall had the assists. A minute later, Anthony Pino found the back of the net off assists from Doug Rose and Casey Rogers for a 5-1 Knights lead.

The Valiants were able to score a goal midway through the third period, but the Knights came away with the 5-2 win.

Neumann finishes the regular season 13-8-4 overall and 9-5-1 in the conference. The Knights will be the No. 2 seed in the ECAC West postseason and will host a semifinal game on Saturday, February 28.
