Knights Win Back and Forth Battle with Ravens

ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team held off Rosemont College 71-68 on Wednesday night in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.

Four Knights led the team with double-digit points. James Butler dropped 16 points. Kevin Green scored 15 while DeShawn Lowman and Denzel Yard both netted 12 points.

The first basket of the game was scored at 18:31 when Yard hit a three. The score remained 3-0 until Rosemont made its first basket at the 15:58 mark. The Knights were able to go on a 9-2 run to take a 16-7 lead at the midway point. The Ravens cut the lead down to one with 5:50 remaining in the first half. It remained a back and forth battle and the Knights led 30-28 at the half.

The second half started off with the Knights scoring six of the first eight points. Two of those baskets were scored by Butler. With the Ravens holding a one point advantage, 39-38 with 15:19 on the clock, Neumann went on a 9-1 run, capped by two free throws by Butler. Rosemont answered back with a run of their own to tie the game up at 47 with 10:03 remaining in the game.

From there it was a fight to the finish as the teams were knotted at 65 with 48 seconds remaining. Yard tied the game at 65 and put the Knights up by one on his and-one. Rosemont took back a one point lead with two free throws. Butler connected on a layup with 10 seconds remaining to take back the lead. Yard connected on to free throws with two seconds for a three point game. The Ravens had the last shot, but Lowman stole the ball to seal the Knights' win.

Neumann (11-9, 8-5 CSAC) heads to Langhorne, Pa on Saturday afternoon as they look to get their second straight win on the road when they face Cairn University in CSAC action. Tip-off is 3:00 PM.
