ASTON, Pa. - The Neumann University women's lacrosse team won its second straight Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) game with a 15-10 decision over Immaculata University Monday afternoon.
Jordan Hopkins dominated the contest with five goals and two assists. Gabbey Murray, Rebecca Dolenti, Taylor Klever and Amanda Fedak each scored two goals for Neumann. Shae Risley tallied a goal and two assists. Freshman goalie Gabby Curry recorded 12 saves.
For much of the game, the scoring went back and forth. Immaculata scored the opening two goals of the game, with Hopkins scoring her first goal following. Following a few back and forth goals for each, Hopkins second goal of the game tied it up at 4-4 with 11:43 remaining in the half. Immaculata then scored two straight, but a Fedak goal out Neumann back within one, 6-5. The Mighty Macs held a 7-5 lead at the half.
The second half opened with a Neumann goal from Gabbey Murray at the 25:40 mark. Less than a minute later the Knights let up a goal but quickly answered with another Hopkins goal. The Knights finally pulled even at eight as Dolenti scored. Immaculata answered a minute to take back the later
A goal by Alexa McIntyre, with 16:33 left in the second half, tied the game at nine and started seven straight goals for the Knights. Immaculata tallied the last goal with just 18 seconds left, but Neumann had enough of a lead to seal the win.
Neumann (3-3, 2-0 CSAC) will host Cabrini in more CSAC action Wednesday evening starting at 7:00 PM.
