Women's Lacrosse Falls in First Game of 2015

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team opened the 2015 season at Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday afternoon. The Knights fell to the Marlins 14-7.

Amanda Fedak led the Knights with three goals. Becca Wallace made 10 saves in net.

Virginia Wesleyan was able to net the first two goals of the game. Jordan Hopkins netted the first goal of the season for the Knights on a free position shot. The Marlins answered with three goals to jump out to a 5-1 lead. Fedak scored two straight goals for Neumann. Virginia Wesleyan took a 7-3 lead into halftime.

Taylor Klever opened the scoring in the second half. Rebecca Dolenti also scored, to bring Neumann to within three, 8-5, with 25:39 left in the second. The Marlins went on to score the next five goals for a 13-5 game midway through the half. Alexa McIntyre and Fedak would put the Knights on the board, but it was not enough and the Marlins came away with the 14-7 win.

Neumann (0-1) will travel to TCNJ on Saturday afternoon for non-conference action beginning at 1:00 PM.
