ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's lacrosse team lost its home opener to Cazenovia College on Sunday afternoon 10-6.
Adam Fagan and Jordan Klunk led the Knights with two goals, one assist and five ground balls apiece.
The first quarter was a back and forth battle as Cazenovia would score, Neumann answered. Jeremy Pierson scored the third goal for the Knights in the first quarter as the teams were knotted at three after the first 15 minutes.
The first four goals of the second quarter were just as the first, with the Wildcats scoring and the Knights answering. After Cazenovia scored its sixth goal, Neumann was not able to answer this time. The Wildcats were able to score again and take a two-goal lead, 7-5, into halftime.
The third quarter was quiet as the Wildcats scored the only goal. The Knights were down 8-5 heading into the final quarter.
The Wildcats scored two goals to start the final quarter. Fagan ended Neumann's scoring drought when he scored his second goal on an assist from Rob Neri for a 10-6 game. The Knights were not able to get any close and the Wildcats came away with the 10-6 win.
Neumann (0-2) hosts Misericordia University on Wednesday afternoon beginning at 4:00 PM on the turf field.
