ASTON, Pa. - The Neumann University softball team split with Cabrini College in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The Knights won the first game 3-2. The Cavaliers took game two 3-2.
In game one, Danielle Grayson and Megan Williams each had two hits. Lauren Wilkie picked up the win, going 7.0 shutout innings, striking out three.
The Knights put a run on the board in the second inning as Williams hit a solo shot to left field. Neumann put the other two runs on the board in the fifth inning. Grayson hit a two-run homerun to left field.
In game two, Jamie Scannella and Katie Halter each had two hits. Haley Broomell pitched 7.0 innings, allowing the three runs on nine hits and struck out seven.
Cabrini got on the board first with a single run in the third inning. Neumann answered with two runs in the home half of the third. Kara Grogan knocked in Allie White with a single. Grogan then scored on a sacrifice fly by Williams.
The Cavaliers hit a two-run homerun in the top of the fourth to take a 3-2 lead to wrap up the scoring for the game.
Neumann (14-4, 9-1 CSAC) will host Immaculata tomorrow for a CSAC doubleheader beginning at 1 PM.
