White Leads Knights in Sweep of Mighty Macs


ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team swept Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) rival Immaculata University on Sunday afternoon in the conference doubleheader. Game scores were 9-1 and 8-0, both in six innings.

Allie White went 4-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored in the first game. With her leadoff double to start the game White recorded the 200th hit of her career, just the third Knights to reach this milestone.

Megan Williams had two hits and three RBI. Marissa Giordano and Danielle Grayson each had two hits. Melissa Rozumalski had a double and two RBI.

Lauren Wilkie pitched 5.1 innings, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out four to pick up the win. Kristin Beaty got the final two outs of the game.

Neumann started off early, scoring three runs in the first inning. The first run came on a Grayson single to score White. Two batters later, Williams tripled to knock in Giordano and Grayson. 

The Knights added four more runs in the third inning. Rozumalski's two-run double came in the inning. The Mighty Macs scored their lone run in the fourth inning.


In the sixth inning, the Knights' first two batters walked. Williams hit an RBI single to score Sarah Murray.  Katie Halter then knocked in Becky Guinto to end the game, 9-1.

In game two, Beaty pitched the complete game shutout, going 6.0 innings.

White walked to start the first inning and came around to score on a ground out by Kara Grogan. The Knights added two runs in the second, fourth and fifth to take a 7-0 lead. Williams knocked in Grogan in the bottom of the sixth inning for the eighth run to end the game.

Neumann (16-4, 11-1 CSAC) will travel to Baptist Bible College Wednesday for a CSAC doubleheader starting at 3:00 PM.
