CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. - The Neumann University softball team took a pair of Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) games at Baptist Bible College on Wednesday afternoon. Haley Broomell threw a perfect game in a 12-0 win in game two.
Neumann took the first game 20-1 in five innings. Pitcher Kristin Beaty hit a grand slam in the fifth inning. Becky Guinto knocked in four runs. Allie White had four hits, knocked in and scored three runs. Marisa Giordano and Kara Grogan each scored four runs.
Beaty also went 5.0 innings and allowed one run on just two hits and struck out five.
Neumann took control of the game in the third inning by plating 11 runs. Guinto knocked her grand slam in the fifth inning to cap the scoring.
In the second game, Broomell pitched a perfect game, 15 batters faced and 15 batters retired in order, a first under Head Coach Bill Saar. In her 5.0 perfect innings, the sophomore struck out seven batters.
Danielle Grayson led Neumann in a 12-0 win in game two, going 3-for-4 at the plate and knocking in four runs. She hit a two-run homerun in the first inning.
White had two hits to bring her career total to 211 and tie Angela Sebasto at the top of the career list.
Carla D'Angelo and Sarah Murray each knocked in three runs. Guinto added another three hits.
D'Angelo hit a two-run double in the fourth inning. Murray followed with her first collegiate homerun in the, a two-run shot, as the Knights scored six runs in the frame.
Neumann (18-4, 13-1 CSAC) will host Gwynedd Mercy on Friday afternoon for a conference double header beginning at 3:00 PM.
