CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Neumann University softball team split a pair of non-conference games at Washington College (Md.) on Saturday afternoon. The Knights dropped the first game 1-0 and picked up the nightcap 6-5.

In game one, it took until the bottom of the seventh for a team to score. The Shorewomen took advantage of a Knights' error to score the only run of the game.

Allie White picked up the only hit for Neumann. Lauren Wilkie went 6.1 innings in the circle. She allowed the one unearned run on seven hits.

In game two, the Knights put an unearned run on the board in the top of the first inning as White scored. Neumann then put a five spot on the board in the third inning. With one out, four straight Knights reaching base.

Washington College made it a 6-3 game in the sixth inning and added two more in the seventh. Neumann buckled down and was able to hold off Washington for the 6-5 win.

Haley Broomell pitched the complete game for game two. She allowed five runs on five hits and struck out three. Marisa Giordano finished the game with three hits. White scored two runs.

Neumann (21-5) will travel to Centenary on Tuesday for a pair of conference games beginning at 3:00 PM.
