ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team took a pair of Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) games against Keystone College on Thursday afternoon. Game scores were 10-1 and 5-1.
Neumann picked up a 10-1 win in the first game. Marisa Giordano and Becky Guinto both had two hits while four other Knights had a hit. Danielle Grayson had three RBI's and a homerun. Melissa Rozumalski also knocked in three runs.
Keystone struck first, plating its run in the top of the first inning. Grayson's three run homerun in the bottom of the first inning put Neumann up 3-1 entering the second.
The score remained 3-1 until the Knights exploded for seven runs in the fourth inning. Guinto opened the inning with a double. With the bases loaded, Rozumalski hit a bases-clearing triple.
Kristin Beaty earned the win for Neumann allowing one run in four innings while also getting four strikeouts. Lauren Wilkie pitched the fifth inning getting two strikeouts.
The Knights came away with a 5-1 win in game two. Four Knights had two hits in the game. Wilkie started the game pitched three scoreless innings. Haley Broomell picked up the win, going 4.0 innings and striking out four.
All of the scoring took place after the fifth inning. A single in the bottom of the fifth by Allie White turned into the first run of the game. Grayson's single two batters later scored Giordano. Katie Halter knocked in two runs with a bases-loaded double.
White hit a solo homerun in the bottom to help seal the win.
Neumann (11-3, 6-0 CSAC) heads to Baptist Bible College on Tuesday for a CSAC doubleheader. Action gets underway at 3:00 PM.
