NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Neumann University men's soccer team opened the 2015 season with a 1-0 win against Wesley College in the Joe Pombriant / CNU Soccer Classic on Friday evening.
The win is the first for head coach
Tim Hollenback.
The Knights got on the board early, finding the back of the net just 1:41 into the game.
Jake McDevitt was able to get the ball into the right corner for the tally.
Thiago Cruz and
Tben Donnie drew the assists.
Tim Glaccum made eight saves throughout the rest of the game to gain the win. Wesley outshot Neumann 11-9 overall. The Knights had two more corner kicks than the Wolverines, 6-4.
Neumann (1-0) will continue at the Pombriant / CNU Soccer Classic on Sunday when it takes on host Christopher Newport, beginning at 1:00 PM.
