ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team defeated Cedar Crest College 85-37 on Wednesday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
JoHanna Metzger notched a double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds.
Nafisa Saunders also netted 17 points while
Lauren Legler added 10 points. Ten players scored at least two points for the Knights and the team shot 52.1% from the field.
With Neumann leading 5-4 early in the game, the Knights went on a 19-0 run to take a 24-4 lead. Neumann took a 27-6 lead after the first 10 minutes.
The Knights opened the second quarter on a 19-0 run for a 46-6 lead. The Falcons scored their only two points of the quarter at the 2:52 mark. Neumann took a 50-8 lead into halftime.
Cedar Crest came out of halftime and scored the first six points. The teams would battle back and forth, but Neumann would continue to hold a substantial lead, 63-24, heading into the final 10 minutes.
The Knights used the lead built during the game to come away with the 85-37 final.
Neumann (6-9, 4-2 CSAC) will travel to Centenary next Wednesday for more CSAC action beginning at 7:00 PM.
