ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's soccer team dropped a close 1-0 decision to Cabrini University on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
The long goal of the game came in the 57
th minute when the Cavaliers scored on a corner kick.
The teams battled back and forth in the first half. Cabrini held a 14-10 shot advantage after the first 45 minutes, with two hitting the post. The Cavaliers had three shots in the final minute that Neumann keeper
Anna Attardi made the key saves in. Attardi finished the game with 10 saves.
The Knights had their chances to tie the game in the second half. With just over 25 minutes on the clock,
Jamie King had a breakaway down the field, but shot the ball just wide. Neumann had its second breakaway of the half with around seven minutes left in regulation when
Danni Elman broke free of the Cavaliers defense. As she reached the top of the box, the Cavaliers keeper made the stop to keep the Knights off the board. About a minute later,
Lexi Casper picked up a pass from the corner and just missed the net. Neumann kept the pressure on Cabrini in the final minutes, but could not capitalize to tie the game.
Neumann (5-5, 2-2 CSAC) will head to Cairn University on Tuesday for more CSAC action beginning at 3:30 PM.
