LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Neumann University women's soccer team scored a 6-3 win over Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) foe Cairn University on Tuesday afternoon.
Five different Knights found the back of the net in the victory, with senior
Jamie King being the lone Neumann player to tally twice.
Anna Attardi made two saves in net, and scored a goal in the win. Also scoring for the Knights were
Grace Stauffer,
Savannah Stichler and
Ashley Francis.
Lexi Casper led Neumann with two assists on the day.
The Knights would come out fast, tallying twice in the game's first seven minutes courtesy of Stauffer and Stichler. Cairn would respond in the 8
th minute with a goal of their own, but it would be all Neumann the rest of the half. King answered back for the Knights in the 17
th minute, then capped off the first half scoring with her second goal of the game in the 38
th minute off a pass from
Kahlyn Ford. Neumann would take a 4-1 lead into halftime, outshooting the Highlanders 14-5.
The second half started with more of the same from the Knights. Francis added to the scoring in the 58
th minute off a nice feed from Stauffer to make it 5-1. Cairn would get two goals back late in the second half before Attardi punctuated the afternoon with a goal of her own. After being subbed out of goal, the freshman came back into the game as an attacking player and found the back of the net on Casper's second helper of the afternoon to close out the scoring. Neumann finished the day with a 31-12 edge in shots and a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Neumann (6-5, 3-2 CSAC) is next in action on Saturday, October 8
th as it heads to CSAC rival Clarks Summit University. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
