ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team closed out its regular season with a dominating 11-0 win over Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) rival Notre Dame of Maryland University on a rainy and cold Thursday evening.
Jessica Harrell led the way for the Knights, notching four goals and an assist in the game.
Becky Guinto added two goals of her own, while
Julia Mustin,
Danni Hall,
Kelsey Semon,
Julia Lee and
Maddy Varney also added tallies. Goalie
Caitlyn Johnson picked up the win in net for the Knights.
Neumann dominated from the opening whistle, scoring the game's first goal just a minute and 26 seconds into the contest. The Knights would add six more tallies in the first half to take a 7-0 lead into halftime. Shots at the break were 33-1 in favor of Neumann.
The Knights would notch four more goals in the second half to claim the 11-0 victory. Neumann would finish the game with a 54-2 edge in shots.
Neumann (10-7, 3-4 CSAC) finishes its season just outside of the CSAC playoffs. Despite tying for fourth place, the Knights lost in a tiebreaker for the final playoff spot. The team will await word of a potential ECAC tournament bid next week.
