NEWPORT, R.I. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team doubled-up Salve Regina University 4-2 in a non-conference game on Saturday evening.
 
After playing to a scoreless first period, Jory Mullin scored the first goal of the game at the 6:03 mark of the second period. Neumann held the 1-0 heading into the third period.
 
The final period had more action in it than the first two periods combined. The Seahawks tied the game with a power play goal 5:16 into the third period. Liam Board answered less than a minute later to put the Knights back in the lead. Salve Regina tied the game again 9:53 into the third. Once again, Neumann answered quickly as Matt Gerber scored his first collegiate goal, and the eventual game-winner, less than a minute later.
 
Anthony Pino tallied an empty net goal with 41 seconds left in the game for an insurance goal. Zac Lazzaro and Joe Mitchell both drew an assist on the final goal.
 
The Knights outshot the Seahawks 58-39. Matt Gibney made 37 saves in net for Neumann as he picked up his second win in net this season.
 
Neumann (2-0) will open conference action next weekend. The Knights head to Utica on Friday evening for a 7:00 PM faceoff.
