ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team fell 2-1 to Stevenson University in overtime on Saturday evening in its second game of the Knights Invitational.
Bek Lucas opened the scoring 8:12 into the game as she netted her second goal of the season.
Mollie Johnson tallied the assist and the Knights held a 1-0 lead after the first period.
No goals were scored in the second period. Neumann had to kill a 5-on-3 power play as well as a five minute major. The Knights continued to hold a 1-0 lead after 40 minutes of action.
Stevenson broke through 34 seconds into the third as it started the period on another 5-on-3 power play. The teams remained tied after regulation and sent the game into overtime. The Mustangs were able to notch the overtime win with a goal 29 seconds into overtime.
Julia Fair made 35 saves in net, including 15 in the third period, keeping the Knights in the game.
Neumann (1-1) will open conference action next weekend with a pair of games against Elmira. The Knights will host the Soaring Eagles at 7:00 PM on Friday and 2:00 PM on Saturday.
