CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – The Neumann University women's soccer team notched an 8-1 victory over Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) rivals Clarks Summit University.
Ashley Francis scored twice for the Knights to lead the way. Also finding the back of the net included
Kristina Yocum,
Jamie King,
Lexi Casper,
Danni Elman,
Grace Stauffer and Lindsay Padilla. Goalies
Anna Attardi and
Kristen Montgomery each played a half in goal.
Neumann would strike early, as Yocum scored just a minute and 26 seconds into the game off a pass from Casper. The Knights would follow that up with two more tallies in the 13
th (breakaway by King) and 34
th (Casper) minutes. The Defenders would get a goal back in the 36
th minute, but it would be their only highlight of the game. Neumann responded just before halftime with its fourth goal of the afternoon as Francis scored her first goal of the afternoon off a pass from
Taylor Garman. The Knights took the 4-1 lead into the break.
The second period brought more Neumann dominance, as the Knights tallied four more goals to complete the convincing 8-1 win. Elman scored her goal as she knocked a shot off the crossbar and into the net. Stauffer then followed on a soft pass from Attardi. Francis and Padilla (assist from
Reilly Pollock) rounded out the scoring. For the match, Neumann outshot Clarks Summit by a total of 33-9 overall and 20-4 on goal.
Neumann (7-5, 4-2 CSAC) is next in action on Wednesday, October 12
th when it hosts Cedar Crest College. Kick-off for the match is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
