ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team fell to Rowan University 85-63 on Saturday afternoon in the championship game of the Neumann Tip-Off Tournament.
Nafisa Saunders led the Knights with 21 points.
Lauren Legler added 11.
AAliya Hayes added 12 boards.
Mariah Maciejewski was named to the All-Tournament team.
The Knights scored the first four points of the game. The Profs answered with 13 straight points. Neumann then went on a 7-3 run to get back within four, 15-11. Rowan took a 21-14 lead after the first 10 minutes.
Neumann stayed within striking distance for the first part of the second quarter. With 3:28 left before halftime, the Profs took a 28-23 score and went on a 14-3 run to end the half and hold a 42-26 lead at the break.
Rowan was able to keep the double-digit lead throughout the second half to come away with the 85-63 win.
Neumann (2-1) heads to Albright on Tuesday evening for non-conference action beginning at 7:00 PM.
