READING, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team fell at Albright College 64-50 on Tuesday evening in non-conference action.
AAliya Hayes led the Knights with 17 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double.
Nafisa Saunders and
Alex Fernandez each added 11 points.
Mariah Maciejewski pulled down 10 rebounds.
In the first quarter, the teams traded baskets to open the game. The Lions held a 17-12 lead after the first 10 minutes. Only 11 points were scored between the two teams in the second quarter. Albright scored nine of the 11 points for a 26-15 lead into halftime. Hayes scored both of Neumann's points for the quarter coming on free throws.
Albright continued to build its lead throughout the third quarter. Neumann attempted to make a comeback in the fourth quarter as it went on a 14-4 run over the first four minutes to make the score 55-45. The Lions answered by scoring the next five points and shut down the Knights run. Neumann ended up outscoring Albright 21-13 in the final 10 minutes, but could not complete the comeback.
Neumann (2-2) will host Scranton next Wednesday, November 30 as it starts a six-game home stand. The game is slated to begin at 7:00 PM.
