LA PLUME, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team defeated Keystone College 114-83 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) on Saturday afternoon.
The 114 points is the third most points the Knights have scored since the 1993-94 season and the most points in over 20 years. The last time Neumann hit the century mark was on January 13, 2011 when it scored 106 points against then Philadelphia Biblical (now Cairn University).
Darian Barnes and
James Butler both notched a double-double in the win. Barnes scored 20 points and 15 rebounds. Butler netted 14 points and grabbed 14 boards.
DeShawn Lowman netted 23 points as five Knights finished in double-digits.
Tony Parker netted 18 points and
Tyaire Hudson added 15.
Denzel Yard added eight points and eight assists.
Neumann shot 55.3% from the field, 68.4% in the second half. The Knights held the Giants to 36.4% from the field.
Keystone held the pace to start the game. With 5:34 left in the half, the score was knotted for the seventh time in the first half, 36-36. Neumann finished the half on a 16-8 run, taking a nine point lead, 53-44, into halftime.
The teams went back and forth to open the second half. With Neumann holding a 68-58 lead, the Knights went on a 15-3 run to jump out to an 83-61 advantage. The Knights ended up scoring 61 points in the second half to cruise to their ninth straight win and 13
th in the last 14 games.
Neumann (17-6, 13-3 CSAC) will host Cabrini College for some CSAC action on Wednesday starting at 8:00 PM.
