ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team picked up its sixth win by a 74-43 score against Summit University in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action on Saturday afternoon.
Before the game, the Knights honored their two seniors, playing in their last regular season game:
JoHanna Metzger and
Sarah Roberts. Metzger notched a double-double with a total of 20 points and 12 rebounds. Metzger also had three blocks. Roberts netted a game-high 21 points with two three-pointers.
All twelve Knights made an appearance on the court. Eleven out of the Twelve contributed at least a point, steal, or rebound.
Nafisa Saunders scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds.
The teams battled back and forth to start the game. The Defenders held a 13-12 lead when the Knights went on 12-2 run to end the quarter. The teams traded baskets during the second quarter and took a 37-29 lead into halftime.
Summit came out from halftime to score six of the first eight points. With 3:27 left in the third quarter, and Neumann holding a 50-39 lead, the Knights went on a 10-1 run to end the quarter.
Summit started the fourth quarter netting a three-pointer. The Defenders were not able to find the net for the rest of the half. Metzger scored four straight shots, beginning Neumann's 14-0 run to cruise by with the 74-43 win.
Neumann finishes the regular season 15-10 overall and 13-3 in the conference. The Knights will be No. 4 seed in the postseason and will host Centenary on Monday evening at 7:00 PM.
