Men’s Basketball Selected to ECAC South Tournament

DANBURY, Conn. – The Neumann University men's basketball team has been selected to participate in the 2016 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Men's South Basketball Championship.

The Knights are the No. 5 seed and will travel to No. 4 seeded Arcadia for first round action on Wednesday, March 2. The winner of the first round game will meet the winner of the No. 1 DeSales vs. No. 8 Juniata contest. The other first round games will be No. 2 Swarthmore vs. No. 7 Lebanon Valley and No. 3 Penn State Behrend vs. No. 6 Grove City.

The winners of the first round games will meet at the highest remaining seed on Saturday for semifinal action. The two remaining teams will then tip-off in the Championship game on Sunday.

The Knights are being led by junior DeShawn Lowman. Lowman is the only player to have started in all 27 contests and leads the team averaging 16.9 points per game. Darian Barnes has started in all 18 games he has played in this season. He is averaging a double-double, 14.0 points and 11.8 boards. He leads the team in blocked shots with 69. James Butler is second on the team in points (16.8) and rebounds (8.7) per game. Neumann features a balanced attack with six players averaging double-digits.

Neumann was the No. 2 seed in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) and fell in the Championship game to Gwynedd Mercy 84-70. The Knights are currently 19-8 overall.
