Men’s Basketball Heads to DeSales for ECAC South Tournament

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team will head to DeSales University for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South final four this weekend.
 
Neumann entered the tournament as the No. 5 seed and defeated No. 4 seeded Arcadia 86-83 in first round action on Wednesday. DeShawn Lowman netted 25 points to lead four Knights in double-digits. Denzel Yard connected on five three-pointers and finished with 21 points. Tyaire Hudson netted 16 points and Darian Barnes added 14. Yard and Barnes each blocked a pair of shots. Yard and Hudson handed out six assists a piece.
 
The Knights will face No. 1 seeded DeSales on Saturday at 1:00 PM. The Bulldogs defeated No. 8 seed Juniata 72-66 in the first round. Neumann and DeSales did not face each other during the regular season.
 
In other first round action, No. 2 seeded Swarthmore defeated No. 7 Lebanon Valley 81-60. No. 3 seeded Penn State Behrend defeated No. 6 Grove City 69-50. Swarthmore and Penn State Behrend will tip-off in the other semifinal game on Saturday.
 
The Knights are led by Lowman. The junior is averaging 17.2 points and 6.0 rebounds per game this season. He was named to the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) first team and CoSIDA Academic All-America ® this season. Junior James Butler is added 16.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. Barnes netting 14.0 points, 11.6 rebounds and has blocked 71 shots this season.
 
Neumann has reached the 20 win mark this season and is 20-8 overall. The Knights went 14-4 in the CSAC and was the No. 2 seed in the postseason. Neumann fell to Gwynedd Mercy in the CSAC Championship game.
