ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team took a pair of Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) games against Centenary College on Wednesday afternoon. Game scores were 8-0 and 7-2.
In the first game,
Julia Cox,
Marisa Giordano and
Melissa Rozumalski each had a pair of hits.
Becky Guinto knocked in three runs.
Haley Broomell started the game and went 4.2 innings for her fifth win of the season. She allowed just three hits and struck out five.
Michaela Pembleton got the final out of the game.
The Knights opened the game with two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Sarah Murray hit a lead-off triple and came around to score on a double by Guinto. Guinto then scored on a double by Cox.
In the second inning, Giordano and Rozumalski both scored on a sacrifice fly by Guinto.
Kara Grogan put the Knights up 5-0 on an RBI double by
Mary Cotton.
Neumann added two more runs in the third and another in the fourth for the 8-0 final.
In game two, Cox had three hits. Giordano and
Danielle Grayson each had two knocks. Grayson also knocked in three runs.
Lauren Wilkie pitched a complete game, allowing two runs, one earned, on 10 hits. She struck out six in 7.0 innings.
Guinto scored on a Grayson single for a 1-0 Knights lead in the first inning. The Cyclones tied the game at one in the top of the third inning.
Neumann added three runs in the fifth inning for a 4-1 lead. Grogan hit a two-run single to score Rozumalski and
Jackie Schneider in the inning. The Knights added a run in the fifth and two in the sixth en route to the 7-2 win.
Neumann (9-11, 6-0 CSAC) will host Rosemont on Friday afternoon in CSAC action beginning at 3:00 PM.
