ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team took a pair of games from Rosemont College on Friday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action. Game scores were 8-0 and 9-0, both finishing in five innings.
In the first game, the Knights took advantage of some Ravens errors and scored four unearned runs in the home half of the first inning.
In the third inning,
Kara Grogan hit a two-run single to score
Jackie Schneider and
Melissa Rozumalski for a 6-0 lead. In the next inning, Rozumalski hit her own two-run single to plate
Robyn Hayden and
Kendall Boardman.
Taylor Naman went 5.0 innings for her second win of the season. She struck out five and allowed two hits in the shutout.
The Knights kept the bats going in the second game and scored three runs in the first three innings. Once again, Neumann took an early lead with some unearned runs in the first inning. Boardman knocked in the third run with a double.
In the second inning,
Julia Cox hit a two-run double to score Grogan and
Jewell Ringgold. Cox came around to score on a single by
Danielle Grayson.
Becky Guinto hit a two-run double in the third inning to cap the scoring for the Knights.
Michaela Pembleton went 5.0 for her second win of the season. He allowed five hits and struck out five.
Neumann (11-11, 8-0 CSAC) will travel to Cabrini tomorrow for a CSAC doubleheader and a battle for the top of the conference standings. First pitch is at 12:00 PM.
