ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team defeated Notre Dame of Maryland University 15-3 on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
Before the game, the Knights honored their five seniors, playing in their final regular season home game:
Sirelle Torres,
Jordan Hopkins,
Rebecca Dolenti, Nicole Barberi and
Alexa McIntyre.
Hopkins and
Kaitlyn Conrad led the Knights with three goals. Hopkins also added three helpers. Dolenti had two goals and two assists.
Diana Caicedo added two tallies.
Becca Wallace made four saves in net.
Just 24 seconds into the first half, Hopkins started a string of thirteen straight goals for the Knights. Goals by
Taylor Klever and Caicedo made the score 3-0 in the first two minutes. Two goals by Conrad and one by Dolenti and
Brittany Cassidy gave the Knights a 7-0 advantage. At 15:34 and 15:06, Caicedo and Dolenti found the back of the net. In the second 15 minutes of the first half, McIntyre, Hopkins, Conrad and
Erin Meehan all scored to make it 13-0 going into halftime.
The Gators scored first in the second half to get on the board. Hopkins added her third goal with 10:13 left to play. Notre Dame scored two additional goals in the half. Defender Barbieri celebrated her senior day by scoring the first goal of her career to send the Knights away with the 15-3 victory.
Neumann (11-4, 8-1 CSAC) will travel to Moravian College on Wednesday to wrap up the regular season. The game is slated to begin at 4:00 PM.
