LA PLUME, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team's quest for the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) title came to an end after falling to Immaculata University 19-7 on Saturday afternoon.
The Knights had 14 hits in the game, led by
Kyle Weller with three.
Curt Yenchik knocked in four runs, including two on a homerun.
Seven pitchers threw for Neumann in the game.
Patrick Graham started the game. Seniors
Chris Rupprecht,
Jalen Burks,
Pat O'Leary and
Kevin Giffin all saw time on the mound.
The Mighty Macs scored five runs in the first inning to take an early lead. After adding a run in the third, Immaculata exploded for nine runs in the fourth inning to take a 15-0 lead.
The Knights took advantage of a Mighty Mac error in the sixth inning and scored four unearned runs.
AJ Koscelansky singled in
Chuck Trentler. Yenchik hit a two-run double to score
Eric Bergman and Koscelansky. He came around to score on a double by Weller. Immaculata answered with more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Yenchik hit his homerun in the eighth inning.
Kelvin Ortiz knocked in Trentler in the ninth inning to cap the scoring for the Knights.
Neumann wraps up its season 20-19.
